What is The Gantry?
I’m Sayed Rashid. I spend my days inside Singapore SMEs, untangling how work actually gets done — quotations in WhatsApp, stock counts in Excel, invoices typed twice, and month-end closes that drag on for weeks.
This is where I document what I find: the bottlenecks that quietly eat 20% of a team’s week, the processes worth automating first, and the playbooks that move a business from “everything lives in someone’s head” to a system that runs without heroics.
Why "The Gantry"?
Walk the port at Tanjong Pagar or Tuas and you will see them: gantry cranes, moving loads no person could lift, all day, without drama. Nobody applauds a gantry. It is just the structure that carries the weight so people do not have to.
That is exactly what a good system does inside a business. The re-typing, the checking, the chasing, the month-end grind — that weight should sit on steel, not on your people. When it does, your team stops carrying and starts steering.
The Gantry — put the weight on the system, not your people.
Start here: free tools for business owners
I’ve spent years sitting with Singapore SME owners and their teams. The same problems keep coming up, so I built these tools to help you spot them in your own business.
They show you how many hours your team loses to manual work, what a slow month-end costs you in a year, and whether your business is ready for a proper system. Each one takes a few minutes. They are free, they run in your browser, and you don’t need to give me your email to see your result. I add a new one every month.
What you’ll get
Real stories from the shop floor of SME operations — no theory, no buzzwords. Every post comes from something I’ve watched break (or fixed) inside a real business: sales handoffs, inventory, purchasing, finance, and the automation that glues them together.
Why subscribe?
It’s free, and every new post lands in your inbox. If you run a business — or run operations inside one — one idea here can repay the five minutes it takes to read.
Connect with me
I’m on LinkedIn most days, and that’s the best place to reach me directly — send a connection request and say what you’re working on. You can also book a 20-minute systems review if you want to talk something through properly.
